Dialogue[]

<Explorer> and company climb to the top of Look Hill, a rise allowing a high vantage over the valley and beyond. There a figure astride a starry horse hails them. Without seeking him, they have ridden to the side of Zarlen, your god of exploration. "It is good, is it not, to see the expanse of the world unfurled below?" he says. "For your exploratory exploits, I shall grant you a boon." What do you ask for?
  1. A blessing of safe passage.
  2. A treasure.
  3. Hints for fighting strangers.
  4. Increased ability for <explorer>.
  5. Magic for the clan.

— Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

Consequences[]

Zarlen approves of the clan asking for safe passage. This blessing will last for a variable number of years, but can last for quite a while. May be longer if the explorer asking is a Zarlen worshipper, their exploration (combat+bargaining) skill is high, or you allocated magic to Rituals during Sacred Time.

A worshipper of Zarlen may have better chances of getting a treasure; this will be an apparently random treasure.

Increase ability for <explorer> will let you choose to increase either your Combat, Bargaining, or a little of both.

Hints for fighting strangers will not be approved by Zarlen and won't improve anything.

Zarlen may also fill out some of the unexplored portions of the map regardless of choice made. It is especially useful to get this event early game while not exploring much of the map. He will often reveal the location of the Travelling Stone , and some times other trickier special event spots. Look for small hex reveals of the map surrounded by a light brown. You can immediately explore those revealed locations.

Location[]

Look Hill is a large, solitary hill in the southeast, just south of the Dog Hills.

You may have to travel to this location several times before this event triggers.

Notes[]

The blessing of safe passage can be as much as 15 years, but is usually about 2.
